I have lived in the village for 18 years with my wife, two children and our springer spaniel Skye! It has been my pleasure to be Vice Chair of Governors for the last three years, a role I take very seriously and am extremely proud to hold, particularly as my children progress through the school.
Originally working within a private small manufacturing family business for many years, I then moved on to take on wider roles within national companies, again within the manufacturing sector. Throughout my life I have always been committed to helping young people be the best they can, both in school and out, and have been involved in various uniformed groups to support this commitment.
In my mid 30's, I made the decision to work in a more young person focused role and retrained at university to be a qualified youth and community practitioner. This enabled me to work directly with young people, supporting their dreams and aspirations. I now work within the secondary school sector where I am a senior manager on the school leadership team with responsibilities for Child Protection, Behaviour, Attendance, Special Educational Needs and Development and all aspects of young people’s emotional, social and behavioural needs. I have found the training, experience, skills and qualifications I have gained throughout my work life relevant in my role as a governor. My experience and my skills enable me to effectively support the governors and teaching staff to provide the best learning and whole child development we can. It has been a pleasure working with our staff and Head to develop the whole school during some very challenging times.
